$456,000 Squid Game In Real Life! is a challenge video created by MrBeast and uploaded to the main channel. This is the video that features MrBeast's recreation of Squid Game, which is based on the Netflix series. Though, the key differences is that the contestants don't die while being eliminated and all of the 456 contestants get at least $2,000 each (though the winner would get the biggest prize, which is $456,000).

Games[]
The games were re-created from the original series. One common difference between the original and the recreation is that in the recreation, there is no killing. The games and their differences are:
- Red Light, Green Light: The game's playtime was drastically increased. As a result, contestants had to remain in a singular position for longer than in the show. Additionally, Mr. Beast would occasionally announce the same light colour twice to throw off players.
- Sugar Honeycomb: Since virtually every participant has seen the series and would therefore know the game, this would allow them to choose the easiest shape to cut out. Because of this, the shapes were hidden behind a large question mark and revealed when all the contestants had got in their lines.
- Tug of War: In the middle of the stage, there is a pit full of foam blocks where the contestants would safely fall into instead of falling to their deaths. Also, if any player touches the black foam inside the foamy area, the whole team is eliminated. The stage is CGI and isn't actually high off the ground.
- Marbles: Since the contestants had mostly watched the series and would know that they'd be playing against their partner rather than with them, the MrBeast crew secretly monitored the contestants the whole time and they decided to choose who gets to be paired with who instead of letting the choice go to the contestants. According to a contestant who made a video detailing his experience in the games, players would be paired with random people should the crew be unable to figure out their best friend.
- Glass Stepping Stones: Like Tug of War, there is a foamy area under the bridge so that the players can get eliminated and fall safely into without dying. Also, the fragile glass tiles don't break, they just get separated from the rest of the bridge. Also, since the contestants know that choosing the larger numbers is a better strategy, the numbers that they wanted to choose was translated into Korean. The stage is CGI and isn't actually high off the ground.
- Musical Chairs: Instead of the Korean Squid Game, this final game was replaced by musical chairs, because neither Jimmy nor the contestants knew how to play Squid. In this game, contestants circle around a set of n-1 chairs when the music plays (controlled by Karl turned around to prevent bias), but when the music stops, all of the contestants have to sit in the chairs as soon as possible, and the slowest to reach a chair or the player who seats down before the music stops gets eliminated. A chair gets removed after the elimination of a contestant.

- George Hsiao as Player 456
- Eli Glick as Player 102
- Player 067: She is a female contestant with black hair who has started receiving notability at the start of Sugar Honeycomb. She was best friends with Player 431 and she apparently didn't watch the series Squid Game. She received notability for having a matching number with a notable character in the series, Kang Sae-byeok. She was eliminated in the Marbles game.
- Player 456: He is an Asian-American male contestant who has received notability for being contestant #456, who in the real series matches the number of the show's protagonist Seong Gi-hun. He was best friends with Player 102. Coincidentally, as Seong Gi-hun is the winner of the games, Player 456 was close to being the winner, as he reached the final game Musical Chairs, but he got eliminated in 4th place.
History[]
In October 2021, MrBeast has announced on his TikTok account that he will re-create his equivalent of Squid Game if he gets 10 million likes, which he already did in less than a day, or more specifically, just in a shy of 2 hours. The reason that he did this is because both MrBeast's videos and Squid Game have been considered to be very similar ever since the release of the TV series, except that Squid Game includes killing as elimination.
The rooms that were revealed to be recreated include the dorm room, Red Light, Green Light, Sugar Honeycombs, and Marbles, then Tug of War. Glass Stepping Stones, Squid Game (game) were recreated too but remained unrevealed.
On November 22, 2021, MrBeast leaked a few more scenes for the video on a livestream that he made. He revealed that the release date for the video was on November 24, 2021, at 4:00PM EST.
On November 24, 2021, at 4:00PM EST, the video was released.
Comparison[]
A few key differences between the original series and the re-creation is that MrBeast's version won't feature killing as the way to eliminate opponents, but instead, the opponents would otherwise leave after a device hidden under the contestants' shirts pops once they've been eliminated, so any deadly elements like the guns on the walls from the series weren't implemented. In the case of Tug of War and Glass Stepping Stones, since these games were bound to be deadly in the original series, Jimmy decided to implement a foamy area in the parts where people fall. Moreover, the opponents aren't necessarily people in debt, but instead, they could be YouTubers or just random subscribers. Moreover, there is a much smaller final prize than the series (being $456K) but a large portion of the prize money may be evenly distributed among the contestants, unlike the series, where only the winner gets the money.
Though, there are some similarities, like the whole premise, the games played, and more. For instance, the games look very similar to the original and they all have the same objective. Moreover, there is a dorm room that looks similar to the original series. To add, there are exactly 456 contestants, all of them wearing a numbered suit each (which doesn't have the same style as in the series, but they look similar).
Budget[]
The estimated budget for the project is $3.5M, with the whole setup of the games costing $2M and the prizes given away being $1.5M. Among the $1.5M, the main cash prize for the winner will be $456K, while the other $1.044M will probably be distributed among people who were close to the first place or even to most, if not all contestants.
YouTube Records[]
Ever since its release, it has made various records not only for the MrBeast channel, but for the entirety of YouTube history:
- In just two weeks, it hit over 150 million views, overtaking the #1 spot of the most viewed video of the entire network of MrBeast channels.
- In addition, it is likely the only video on YouTube that has reached 10 million likes all while maintaining an extremely high like-to-dislike ratio of 99%, with less than 100,000 thousand dislikes, before dislikes were removed.
- Also, at one point, quickly after the release of the video, it reached 100,000 likes and had less than 100 dislikes at the same time.
- It is also possibly the most anticipated YouTube video to date, given that its release was heavily discussed.
- It is also possibly the most expensive non-music YouTube video, with a budget of $3.5M (including prizes).
- Just from this video alone, MrBeast has gained an additional several million subscribers in just 2-3 weeks, easily topping the biggest number of subscribers gained in a month compared to other YouTube channels.

Trivia[]
- This video was sponsored by Brawl Stars.
- At the end of the video, Jimmy gave credit to Hwang Dong-hyuk, the director and writer of the original series, for inspiration.
- When someone would get eliminated, there would be a small, harmless device that would explode onto the contestant.
- Throughout the video, MrBeast dressed as the Front Man, his friends dressed as the guards (albeit mostly without masks), and the contestants were generally players.
- This is possibly the popular video with the highest like-to-dislike ratio ever recorded.
- This has remained as the most hyped up video on YouTube to date.
- MrBeast used the same font as Squid Game for the timer, and other bold text in the video.
- The music played in Musical Chairs is called "23 - Pink Soldiers", which is part of the original series's soundtrack.
- Before Red Light, Green Light took place, there was a rumour amongst the contestants that the first to finish Red Light, Green Light would win a new Tesla. This is why in one shot in the video, one person is seen having been eliminated way ahead of most of the players.
- The Glass Stepping Stones game in Squid Game allows competitors to push their opponents. In this version, however, you weren't allowed to push, and numbering system was different. People had to progress low number, high number, low number and so on to prevent the lower numbers from stopping those after them from passing and anti-climatically ending the contest.
- Before Sugar Honeycombs, there was a rumour amongst the contestants that they were instead going to be playing tic-tac-toe, as no one there had actually played dalgona.
- Some numbers with plot significance in the original show were given to contestants who best matched the character, with 456 (Gi-hun, the protagonist) being given to an Asian-American, 067 being given to someone who bore some resemblance to Kang Sae-byeok, and 001 (Oh Il-nam, the old man) being given to the oldest person participating, who didn't make it past Red Light, Green Light.
- In Red Light, Green Light, contestants had to stand still for up to 5 minutes as opposed to the few seconds in the show, which is why 177 was shaking and it took a long time for anyone to finish.
- For Red Light, Green Light, motion sensing phones were originally supposed to be attached to the arms of the contestants to detect whether they had moved and would trigger the device strapped to their chest. However, due to the fact that there were 456 contestants and the Wi-Fi of the arena that was rented by MrBeast couldn't handle all of them, the plan failed and everyone was given $1,000 on day 1 instead as compensation for the failed day of filming.
- In Sugar Honeycombs, someone dropped their can on the floor, breaking their piece of sugar honeycomb, eliminating them. This is why some contestants can be seen carefully taking their cans.
- Out of the 60 contestants that chose the umbrella shape, only 4 managed to make it to the next round, with 3 of them being shown in the video.
- Tug of War took place at 2 in the morning.
- Most of the set of Tug of War was CGI.
- The device strapped to the players did not actually explode with smoke, neither did it puncture their shirt. the smoke and hole was added in through editing.
- The main money reward for the video is $456,000, which is 10 times the reward of the minecraft challenge $45,600 Squid Game Challenge! Also, 456 is the number for a main character in Squid Game, and the grand prize in the show was 456,000,000,000 won ($341,745,825.60).
- The reason why MrBeast announced a green light near the end of the first round and then didn't stop the contestants again afterwards was because the people cheering after having finished the game were so loud, no one still playing could hear him.
- In November 29, 2021, this video has reached 10 million likes, and is the only video at that time to have a 99.5% like to dislike ratio and at least 10 million likes.
- This video has broken the record for the most trending non-music video on YouTube, and has single-handedly made him gain 5 million subscribers.
- There is a deleted scene where an island is showcased, just like the original TV series. The scene was already filmed from a helicopter, but was ultimately scrapped due to lack of time from the editors (SoKrispyMedia) to complete.
- At the end of the video, Jimmy credited the creator of Squid Game, Hwang Dong-hyuk. A few days later, Hwang stated that he watched this video and loved it.[1]
- The outfits worn by the players were not washed in between games.
- After the games were over, most of the outfits were disposed.
- However, some people managed to leave with their outfits, such as Spiffy Jake, Player 177.
- For Glass Stepping Stones, there was a VIP area where Brawl Star executives and YouTubers wearing animal masks could view the game.
- A contestant (who did not become the winner) had gone to the bathroom and saw the guards getting the mannequins ready for Glass Stepping Stones. They then asked to borrow another guard's phone and searched for the numbers 1-100 in Korean.
- A contestant cheated in Ddakji by throwing his Ddakji twice every time MrBeast called for everyone to throw their Ddakji. He was caught and eliminated.
- For Tug of War, there were two all-girl teams and they went against each other.
- In just 2 weeks after the video was uploaded, the views have skyrocketed to becoming the most viewed video on the entire MrBeast network of channels.
- The prize money (456,000 USD) is a reference to the significance of the number 456 in Squid Game, being the number of the protagonist. In addition, Player 067 and Player 456 (In the video) were referred to have plot armor, a reference to their roles in Squid Game.
- This resulted in a viral video called: "IF MrBeast Created SQUID GAME", in which instead of the OG video, the video showed MrBeast killing Karl (Due to him putting down his mask in the video) with a gun, and eventually killing all of the contestants in the first game. He also tells a fictional sponsor Honey, which sold human organs to the black market in discounts. The video also showed how Squid Game would have been if it was MrBeasts' version, though still with the deaths and horrid nature.
- Also in the video, Karl’s name is misspelled as Carl and Chris as Kris. Though the latter misspelling would later become accurate due to Kris' transition.
- The font for the timer has been edited since 5 and the 2 have longer lines on the top (5) and the bottom (2) to make much more room.
- MrBeast saying that there is 4:20 left and Karl said "that's the number" is a reference from Marijuana Day.
Errors[]
- In one scene in the closed captions Karl's name is mistaken as "Carl".
- At 12:46 Chris accidently said the reward amount wrong.
